Electrical Engineer

Introduction:

faytech in China is seeking an experienced industrial computer hardware engineer with an electrical engineering background. He will be dedicated to the support and supervision of multiple product development teams. Candidates need to have prior electronic hardware design/development experience (preferably digital).

As a member of faytech´s electrical engineering team he will be responsible for working with the engineering design and development teams to provide quality-focused technical and process support at the standard portfolio as well as the project level for faytech´s product development. 

He is expected to be closely engaged with engineering from the earliest phases of project definition, through bid pursuit, design, development, integration, implementation, test and verification, to final certification activities. 

He must be capable of identifying design quality trends and systemic issues, effectively communicating issues to project teams and leadership, leading/facilitating efforts to investigate issues, identifying root cause and providing recommendation for corrective actions as needed, to achieve design and development quality goals.

The employee will help ensure: 

  •  New product designs meet or exceed requirements
  •  Engineering design/development processes are followed 
  •  Customer and regulatory agency requirements are complied with
  •  Design defects are identified and eliminated prior to transition into production. 

The employee will:

  •  Design, implement, and document firmware or software required for
     product development.
  •  Write and analyze test plans, conduct design tests and evaluate test
     results.
  •  Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets,
     instruction manuals, project notebooks, design and test
     documentation.
  •  Incorporate design concepts from schematic design into design
     development.
  •  Provide and maintain accurate product cost estimates. Provide basic
     labor estimates. Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Material. 
  •  Provide and maintain accurate project plans. 
  •  Manages and/or leads hardware projects of moderate complexity. 
  •  Deliver prototype hardware to customers by implementing physical
     hardware designs by selecting components, capturing schematics,
     and supervising PCB layouts.
  •  Coordinate engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing. 
  •  Directs the efforts of associate engineers and technicians. 
  •  Participate in industry technical meetings, seminars, and conferences. 
  •  Continuously identify, measure, follow, and improve R&D processes.

Demonstrate ability to:

  •  Systems design/development, integration, verification and
     documentation digital design with microprocessors 
  •  Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures
  •  Hardware design/development, qualification and documentation 
  •  Accomplished written communication skills. 
  •  Strong critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills 
  •  Candidate must be a self-starter who is able to multi-task, manage
     unplanned events and workload in order to meet commitments. 
  •  A strong working knowledge of design process.
  •  Assist in the commissioning of new plant and equipment and other
     systems to ensure that its introduction into the production facility
     is handled efficiently & with minimum disruption. 
  •  Continually improve group's performance through the planning of
     maintenance activities. Specify preventative maintenance
     schedules for all equipment and ensure completion of the activities. 
  •  Investigate & analyze machinery downtime and organize corrective
     activities to eliminate future recurrence. 
  •  Together with team members, drives process continuous
     improvement and drives quality process improvement coordinating
     corrective actions as necessary.
  •  Train team members in standard operating procedures and ensure
     regular audits for the maintenance of such procedures. 
  •  Circuit design using embedded micro-controllers, including but not
     limited to ARM
  •  Experience with Embedded microprocessors, memory systems,
     analog circuits, schematic capture and hi-speed PCB layout best
     practices. 

Extra abilities as a plus:

  •  Experience in CAN Tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, CANdela, CANBus,
     CANape, Vector CAN) 
  •  Knowledge of data capture devices such as imagers (CCD/CMOS),
     Laser scanners, magnetic swipe readers, biometric devices, etc.
     a plus. 
  •  Experience with successful design and qualification testing for
     Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (EMI/EMC). 
  •  Power supply design

  •  Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
     (STEM) discipline or an equivalent level of education and
     experience. 
  •  Must have prior Electronic Hardware Design Experience including
     digital design 
  •  Prior development experience in the design and analysis of analog
     circuits and systems 
  •  Prior experience and competence with Spice simulators, schematic
     capture and PCB layout tools, preferably MathCad or Matlab 
  •  Previous experience with electrical safety and EMC compliance
     issues is a strong plus 
  •  Knowledge of good EMC design principles 
  •  Possess a basic knowledge of other disciplines within product
     development as well as test and manufacturing 
  •  Ability to lead a functional team in a cross-functional team
     environment
  •  Experience with product certification 
  •  Systems design/development, integration, verification and
     documentation 
  •  Hardware design/development, qualification and documentation
