What is an Industrial Panel PC?

The industrial sector has been revolutionized by automation. It has not only given rise to dynamic new market goals and unique cost-cutting opportunities, but it has also removed redundancies and boosted efficiencies on a massive scale, bringing new levels of maturity and sophistication to the industrial value chain.

With all of this software fueling automation to enhance efficiency, eliminate redundancies, and increase total time-to-value, it’s vital to have the correct equipment in place to take advantage of these tremendous advancements.

An Industrial Panel PC is a computer consolidated in a modular flat-screen, multi-touch display, allowing the entire system to be mounted anywhere the displays can be mounted. As a result, the need for a separate PC and external display is no longer necessary. In addition, due to its great durability and ease of integration into existing automation equipment, Industrial Panel PCs are a good alternative to tablets and HMIs.

Industrial Panel PCs are modular, allowing corporations to replace individual components rather than the entire device if one fails. When integrating an industrial panel pc into industrial automation systems, there are a few crucial factors to consider.

Industrial Touchscreen Panel PCs Are Tough

A sturdy design is essential for ensuring the longevity of Industrial Panel PCs. As a result, industrial Panel PCs can endure deployment in high-risk areas while still providing reliable and excellent performance. To name a few advantages, rugged panel PCs have durable display panels, a fan-less design, and industrial-grade capability (extreme temperature resistance, IP rating, shock, and vibration resistance).

Industrial LCD VS Standard LCD

Standard LCDs aren’t designed to withstand harsh environments, and they aren’t bright enough for several applications, especially when exposed to direct sunlight. A bright screen is required for the optimal viewing experience; ordinary LCD screens only give 250–350 nits of brightness. On the other hand, industrial panel PCs can be configured with a panel that has a brightness of up to 1000 nits (in most cases), making them ideal for outdoor deployments.

At faytech, Capacitive and Resistive Touchscreen PCs are either standard equipped with  1000+ cds/m² brightness, or is possible for customization for any project . Because of these enhancements, an industrial multi-touch panel PC is an excellent choice for use in kiosk machines and digital signage in an outdoor or semi-outdoor environment.

Optical Bonding for Industrial Panel PCs

In the faytech Panel PCs line up, optical bonding is done by placing a layer of silicon seal between the touch panel and the LCD panel, bonding them together, and creating a solid laminate with no air gaps. This approach is commonly utilized in the military, medical, transportation, and heavyweight industries, where tough displays must survive extreme conditions.

There are a few advantages of using this method to bind the LCD panel optically. Because light does not seep under the screen’s surface when the space between the glass and display panel is filled with silicone, refractions are reduced, resulting in a significantly brighter and easier-to-read display. In outdoor or bright conditions, reducing the inner reflection with optical bonding improves contrast and clarity without boosting the display’s brightness.

Furthermore, an optically bonded touch panel will improve the stability (thanks to an optical bonding glue layer that fills in air gaps, making it better equipped to absorb shocks and boosting the display’s longevity), in many cases it even increases the IK rating from IK7 or IK8 to nearly IK9, depending on the specific product. With thick glass IK10 is also possible. Additionally, an optically bonded touch panel also reduces the reflection, increase the viewing angle, enhance the perceived brightness and eliminates parallax issues (due to the missing refraction between glass and air, the light does not get bended). Another evident advantage of optical bonding is that it physically prevents dust and moisture intrusion into the space between the screen layers.

Condensation, which can be a serious problem in rainy and humid situations, is avoided. Condensation can hold foggy moisture inside the gap for a long time, resulting in hazy images and, in some cases, even causing electrical damage. Finally, a silicon seal can improve touch accuracy by evenly maintaining pressure inside the gap via the substrate, eliminating the touch deviation caused by an air gap.

IP Ratings for Industrial Panel Computer Systems

An IP rating indicates how resistant a computer is to dust and water; therefore, your industrial panel computer should have one to ensure its endurance and durability, especially when used in potentially hazardous settings. IP ratings, or ingress protection ratings, are a commonly used standard that specifies how well an enclosure seals off liquids and small dust particles. This is especially critical in automated lines that require sanitary washdowns with high-pressure water jets and cleaning compounds frequently. The first digit of an IP rating indicates how well the device protects against large debris and small particles like dust. The highest rating for solid ingress is 6, which means the internal system is shielded against small debris and dust particles. The second digit in an IP rating shows whether or not the internal system is liquid-proof. In addition, it indicates whether the entire system is watertight and resistant to high-temperature water jets or not. Industrial Panel PCs at faytech have a rating of either IP40 (with IP65 front) or complete IP65, which means comprehensive protection for applications under harsh circumstances, including water and dust.
This is where you need us; faytech has been developing and marketing industrial electronic devices in the market for years. The reference list of well-known brands using faytech Industrial PCs and Touchscreen Displays includes Bechtle, Dell Technologies, NEC, Siemens, Continental, Honeywell, and many more.

Use-Cases & application Examples

We have a great deal of user-case examples to show just how faytech’s Industrial Panel PCs are being used in harsh environments.
For a client, we provided a 15” IP65 Capacitive Touch PC solution, for the control panel of a car wash station, which can withstand the most extreme weather conditions in an outdoor environment. The device includes customized IP65 connectors, automatic brightness adjustment sensor, optically bonded touch panel and high brightness display. The touch functionality even works in a rainy situation!
Another great example is our 55” outdoor kiosk solution in partnership with one of our customers in Japan. It uses faytech’s high brightness open frame solution integrated into a customized IP65 outdoor case. It comes with an integrates light sensor, high brightness and optically bonded display for great visibility in both dark and bright environments.

Another great example is the double 15.6” navigation displays on a yacht. It perfectly shows the integration capabilities that faytech offers. The front is completely IP65 proof, and both monitors are high brightness which can be adjusted in the OSD menu. It is perfect for both bright and dark environments as the brightness can be adjusted.

Some other user-cases and projects include displays mounted on forklifts, as control panels on commercial dish washers, or even as operation displays on electric vehicle charging stations!
